Abstract: In order to increase the strength of spunlaced nonwovens, three methods were experimented. The first was online and offline dipping methods,in either case, the spunlaced nonwovens strength can be increased notably, and the latter took the lead. The second one was adding ES fibers and coarse denier PET fibers separately, and then their strength elongation properties were compared with those of the pure PET fiber spunlaced nonwovens.Testing results showed that the strength increment was indistinctive, but the smoothness can be improved. Then calendaring method was adopted, under high pressure and(100 ℃) temperature, not only the strength can be increased, but also the density and softness. Thus, results of the paper provide ways for increasing spunlaced nonwovens strength and suitable methods could be selected according to the end use.
