Effect of solution properties on the morphology of electrospun nanofibers

Abstract: Electrospinning method was used to fabricate PVA and PAN nanofibers.The effect of solution mass concentration and conductivity on electrospun fiber morphology was investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The result showed that the beads decreased and fiber diameter increased with increasing solution mass concentration which was found to have considerable effect on bead-free nanofibers and fiber diameter.Solution conductivity was improved by adding different LiCl mass concentrations into electrospinning solution.With increasing solution conductivity,fiber′s discrete coefficient decreased remarkably.Thus it is concluded that solution conductivity is the primary factor influencing the discrete coefficient of the fiber.
