Formability of multi-layered biaxial weft knitted fabrics on double hemisphere

Abstract: The forming experiments of the multi-layered biaxial weft knitted(MBWK) fabrics on double hemisphere were carried out. Based on the results of the experiments,the characteristics and rules of the forming of MBWK fabrics on double hemisphere were described. The changes of angle θ at the direction of ±45° fabrics on the double hemispheres between the inserting yarns were related to the magnitude of diameter of the hemisphere,but had no correlations with the distance between the double hemispheres. The angle between the inserting yarns had a linear relationship with the perpendicular distance from the measured points to the longitudinal axis of the hemisphere on +45° direction,and had a nonlinear relationship on -45° direction. The biggest shear angle was about 40° on (+45°) direction.
