Preparation and conductivity of the nonwovens deposited with nanostructured aluminum thin films

Abstract: Nanostructured aluminum thin films were sputtered onto the spunbonded polyester nonwoven substrate by magnetron sputtering technology. The morphology of the coated fabric was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Its electroconductive property was measured and analyzed. The study revealed that the fibrous structure of the nonwoven substrate kept intact after the sputter coating. It was also found that the increase in the coating time resulted in more compacted and uniform, and higher conductivity of the substrate. The electric resistance reached the lowest (4~ 6 Ω/cm) as the thickness of the coated layer increased to 100 nm.
