Abstract: The typical 3-D integrated and sandwiched fabrics including X,V and honeycomb types in warp wise are designed and manufactured with glass fibers on the common 2-D loom, and reinforced composites are made of the fabrics by means of the technology of vacuum assisted resin infusion. For better penetration of resin into the fiber and fabric, the components, ratio and viscosity of the resin liquid are studied. The resin liquid flowing in the 3-D sandwiched fabric and the cause of bubble forming are discussed. The manufacturing method used in this research can effectively exclude the air trapped in the voids between fibers or inside the fibers of the reinforced composites. The results show that the reinforced composites have retained the original structure, shape, and physical properties of the sandwiched fabrics.
