Abstract: The cellulose pulp was pre-treated with electron beam irradiation technology. The infrared(IR) spectra testing, the surface and void analysis and the wide angle X-ray diffraction(WAXD) experimentation of the cellulose pulp before and after the treatment were carried out by using FT-IR spectrum, scanning electronic microscope and X-ray diffraction apparatus respectively, and the degrees of polymerization of the cellulose pulp before and after election beam irradiation treatment were measured by the method of copper ammonia solution. The results show that electron beam irradiation results in the degree of polymerization of cellulose decreasing, molecular weight distribution narrowing and appearance of carbonyl in molecular chain of the cellulose.Electron beam irradiation has insignificant influence on crystallinity, whereas the accessibility and the reaction activity of cellulose increase greatly after the treatment.
