Abstract: The adsorption of cationic dye red with superfine sodium polystyrene sulfonate(SPSSNa) particles and the blend films of SPSSNa and polyvinyl alcohol were investigated by using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer. The results indicated that the adsorption process of cationic dye with SPSSNa particles followed Langmuir isotherm and Lagergren pesudo-second order kinetic equation. This implied a monolayer adsorption, and also the adsorption indicated a strong temperature-dependence.The adsorption of cationic dyes with the blend film was faster and stronger than that of pure PVA.
