Abstract: To resolve the problem of quantitative analysis of hand feeling of liquid ammonia/crosslinking treated hemp, ramie and flax fabrics,KES-F handle tester was used to measure the tensile, bending, shearing, compressional, surface and other low stress mechanical properties of above three fabrics treated by liquid ammonia/crosslinking.Comparative study was performed of the hand feeling of the three fabrics through different treatments. Results indicated that tensile resilience and compressional resilience are all increased by liquid ammonia treatment, especially surface properties of hemp, ramie and flax fabrics exhibit significant improvement.Bending, shearing and surface properties of liquid ammonia /crosslinked fabrics are obviously improved as well. And their tensile and compressional properties are better than the bast fabrics treated only by crosslinking.
