Abstract: From the phenomenon of women′s feet-binding with bandages in feudal society in China, this article analyzes the traditional ideology and views on aesthetics. It asserts that the appearance of this phenomenon is due to the decline of woman′s social status and spreading of thoughts of″male superiority and female inferiority.″ It is one of metaphors of″Chinese sexy culture,″ expressing properly the ancient philosophy and aesthetics of″behaving gently and quietly,″ and it is an abnormal social behavior formed under the influence of the Chinese old ethical code in feudal society. It′s an important criterion for a beauty′s judgments and a symbol of a woman′s social status,or even of a family′s social status.
