Abstract: The adsorption behavior of syntan on nylon and silk fabrics are studied. The results show that syntan adsorption on the two fibers is expressed by dual adsorption mechanism in accordance with Langmuir and Nernst type adsorption and endothermic effect.Since silk has high content of amino groups, where nylon contains abundant methylene groups, the contribution of Langmuir adsorption on silk fabric is greater than that on nylon fabric in respect of the total sum of syntan adsorption. When compared with nylon fabric, syntan adsorption on silk fabric is more sensitive to pH.The stronger temperature dependence of syntan adsorption on nylon is due to its poor swelling and smaller inside voids.
