Abstract: Owing to special channels of mesoporous silica SBA-15, an novel silver-supporting mesoporous silica antimicrobial (Ag/SBA-15) was synthesized by one-step method with adding Ag into the process of preparing mesoporous carrier. Ag/SBA-15 and SBA-15 were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM), electron spectroscopy(EDS), atomic absorption spectrometry(AAS) and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm. And the antibacterial property of Ag/SBA-15 against colon bacillus and staphylococcus aureus were also studied. The results showed that the prepared antimicrobial with the content of Ag accounting to 14.8% still remained an ordered mesoporous structure with Ag evenly dispering in the mesoporous carrier and possessed good release behavior.Meanwhile,Ag/SBA-15 antimicrobial was shown to be an effective bactericide against colon bacillus and staphylococcus aureus. The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) was 40?g/ml.
