Abstract: When vehicles driving in poor ground conditions, such as sandbeach, they are prone to be tracked or silt trapped and unable to pass successively, which is especially the case in military action. This study introduces a lightweight portable roll-out matting, textile portable mating. This serves as temporary roadways and provides a rapid and enhanced mobility capacity during expeditionary mission. The fabric structures of the mating are analyzed through the weave structure of the mating. Then, two different weave structures are designed and samples fabricated to evaluate the influence of the structure in the working performance of the matting. The results show that the portable textile mating of special structure has high working performance. Four different weft density are designed and samples fabricated to evaluate the influence of the weft density of the fabric in the working performance of the matting. The results show that the working performance of the portable textile matting increases with the increase of its weft density.
