Abstract: Aiming at overcoming the drawbacks in traditional sizing process, such as high energy consumptions and sizing-agent cost, this research explored a new sizing approach by combing the foam-sizing and warp pre-wetting processes. Through the comparison tests on sizing quality, yarn morphology, and weaving efficiency between the traditional sizing process and this combined process, the study proved the combined process’ superiority. The sizing yarn qualities, such as the strength increase rate, the elongation decrease rate, the wear resistance increase rate and the hairiness decrease rate, are at the same level between the combined process and the traditional sizing process, and the weaving efficiency are not affected significantly with the new process; while the combined process is superior to the traditional process in the saving of gas, desizing waste water and desizing agent.
