Abstract: In order to analysis the feasibility of sodium hydroxide scouring treatment for polyester hollow staple fiber /natural cellulose fiber blended fabric, the effects of sodium hydroxide concentration, treatment temperature and time on the hollow structure and weight loss rate of the polyester were studied, and the relationship between weight loss rate and mechanical properties was also analyzed. The results showed that there was no visible change in fiber hollow structure when the sodium hydroxide treatment was controlled at suitable conditions, and the alkali resistance of the polyester can basically meet the needs of alkali scouring process of natural cellulose fiber. The weight loss rate was significantly affected by the treatment conditions namely sodium hydroxide concentration, treatment temperature and time, in which, the temperature was the most important effect. Furthermore, the breaking strength gradually decreased with the increase of the weight loss rate, especially when the weight loss rate was more than 6%.
