Abstract: Based on the prickle effect of protruding fibers on skin, the wool fiber needle under an axial compression was studied by using Euler's theory of thin rod buckling. The results from the axial compression and flexural tests indicate that the maximum prickle load is correlated with the morphological characteristics of wool fibers. It is significant to improve the wear behaviour of wool fabrics.
