Abstract: Experimental and theoretical researches were undertaken on the elastic modulus in tension and bending of 3D braided composites containing axial yarns. The research results showed that introduction of axial yarns can reduce the work load of braiding, and enhance the axial force bearing capacity of components of 3D braided composites. The experimental results showed that the elastic modulus in tension and bending reaches the optinal value when the ratio between braided yarns and axial yarns is 50/50 and 75/25.
