Abstract: The hot pressing molding process was used to prepare flame retardant basalt fabric/polylactic acid composites, and the influences of the polylactic acid content, hot pressing pressure, hot pressing temperature, flame retardant content on the tensile strength, bending strength and limiting oxygen index of the composite were examined. Through orthogonal experiments, range analysis and single factor analysis, the specific conditions: flame retardant content of 30%, polylactic acid content of 64.6% (5:7 ), hot pressing pressure 5MPa, hot pressing temperature 185 ℃ were optimized out. The result showed that although the mechanical performance of the basalt fabric/polylactic acid composite with flame retardant was reduced compared with the one without flame retardant, but also was excellent and its limiting oxygen index reached to 35.2%.
