Abstract: Low and high amidoxime modified and mix modified polyacrylonitrile fibers (denoted as L-AO-PAN, H-AO-PAN and M-PAN) were used to coordinate with Fe3+, respectively, to produce the modified PAN fiber-Fe complexes. The kinetics of the coordination of three different modified polyacrylonitrile fibers and Fe3+ were studied, and their kinetic parameters were determined and compared. The results indicated that the coordination of three modified PAN fibers and Fe3+ is consistent with first order kinetic model, and well described by Langmuir adsorption model. The saturated coordinate capacity, reaction rate constant and activation energy of H-AO-PAN to Fe3+ were higher than those of L-AO-PAN or M-PAN to Fe3+. High temperature benefits the coordination of three different modified polyacrylonitrile fibers, especially H-AO-PAN and Fe3+.
