Abstract: Abstract Nanoscale carbon black is one of the important colorant for the dope dyeing of polyacrylonitrile (PAN). In this paper, the nanoscale carbon black which used acrylate block copolymer (SUA020) as dispersant and dimethylformamide (DMF) as dispersing media was prepared by ultrasonic machine, and then the effect of nanoscale carbon black on properties of PAN-DMF spinning solution was further investigated. The results showed that the nanoscale carbon black with particle size 108.7nm was prepared when the mass ratio of carbon black was 10%, SUA020 and carbon black 20%, ultrasonic power 600W and ultrasonic time 20min. The nanoscale carbon black has an excellent miscibility with PAN-DMF spinning solutions. The K/S value of the membrane prepared form PAN-DMF spinning solution and nanoscale carbon black reached to the maximum when amount of nanoscale carbon black was higher than 9%.
