Innovative design of Paisley pattern applied in modern dress

Abstract: This article uses the literature analasis, physical study, design practice and other methods, combining history, aesthetics, design science knowledge to analyze and study the traditional Paisley pattern. The paper states the origin of Paisley pattern and it's artistic features, discusses the innovative design method of Paisley pattern which applied in modern dress from the aspects of shape, subject, process and so on. Studies suggest that the abstract geometric theme, cartoon theme, animal theme , plant theme etc., and three-dimensional embroidery process, bead embroidery process and metal ribbon embroidery process, hollow and lace decorated beads process is used for the innovative design of Paisley pattern. This paper provides new theoretical basis and practical basis for the innovative design of Paisley pattern.
