Entropy was a state function, the relative entropy value of the yarns varied directly to the logarithm of its disorderness degree, hence the entropy changing during texturing influenced the inner structure and properties concerning badly. The ordinary filaments were flat and smooth, this order was ruined by texturing which was growing the relative entropy of the system, thus bigger loss of strength and elongation at break was to be tested. To indicate the relationship between texturing entropy change and the stretching properties, 10 textured sample yarns were designed and spun, then tested. The results showed that along with the increasing both of the entropy change and disorderness degree, both the loss of strength and the loss of elongation at break grew quickly, to 50% or so. When multi-differential shrinking was added, the ATY’s loss of strength curve was flatten, as well as its loss of elongation at break curve was laid down though at the same time of the growing both of the entropy change and disorderness degree.

This paper deals with the rheological behavior and wetting power of chitosan/ hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) blend materials. Measuring the viscosity and shear stress of the blend solution by RVDV-ⅡPRO viscosimeter, the influences of composition and temperature on the rheological behavior of blend solution were observed, respectively. The contact angle (CA) of the film was measured by a K100 automatic surface tensiometer to investigate the chitosan / HPC blend materials wetting power. The results showed that almost all the mass ratio blend solutions belong to non-Newtonian fluid except the blends with mass fraction of not more than 1% HPC and not more than 1% chitosan——Newtonian fluid. The blend viscosity falls as temperature rises. The contact angle minimum is in the sequence as that of methyl alcohol< that of ethylene glycol < that of N, N-dimethylformamide < that of distilled water at 20 oC. Temperature change can make water CA low down obviously, and the CA values is in the order of that : 20℃<40℃<30 ℃ when the mass fraction of HPC is below 0.25%. The pH rising or falling a little more can both lead to the CA falling. When the mass fraction of HPC in blend material was in 0~1 %, the water CA changes from 71.04 ° to 55.38 °. Those will have some guidance significance to chitosan / HPC blend materials spinning, film forming and their application.

Due to the complex arrangement of the colored weft and warp yarns and special structure of the woven photograph fabric, a standardized method to simplify the fabric structure is crucial during the design of the fabric. A standardized method which simplifies the multi-layer photograph fabric into three standard basic structures is introduced in this paper. By using these standard basic structures, the “transition” effects in the photograph fabric is obtained successfully and the “red strips” defects on the fabric during production is analyzed and solved. This standardized methods and simplified structures provide mechanism and help develop the structure database for photograph fabric design.

Abstract In order to reveal the impact of maleic anhydride-esterification of starch on the properties of starch sizes, a series of maleic anhydrided starch (MAS) with different degree of substitution (DS) were prepared by reacting differeny amount of anhydride with starch. Viscosity of cooked starch pastes, starch film, and adhesion to polyester and cotton fibers were examined. The properties were assessed through the comparison of MAS with acid-thinned starch (ATS) and acetylated starches (AS). The results showed that the maleic anhydride-esterification were able to increase the work to break, tensile strength of starch film and improve desizing performance, and enhance the adhesion of starch to polyester fibers. The MAS was superior to ATS and AS in improving the properties of starch film and the adhesion to polyester fibers under similar DS level. Applicable DS of MAS for sizing polyester warp was 0.036. The MAS could be obtained through adding 25% maleic anhydride into an aqueous dispersion of starch and then reacting the system for I h under pH 7.5-8.5 and 30℃ after an acid-thinning for reducing the viscosity of cooked starch paste.

In this paper, the surface morphology structure of activated carbon was characterized by using SEM, and the change of absorbance of reactive dye wastewater before and after adsorption was measured by the ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer. The effects of granular activated carbon types, mesh size, dye wastewater concentration, pH value, absorption temperature and time on the adsorption decoloring effect for dye wastewater were investigated. The research results showed that coconut shell activated carbon has a better adsorption decoloring effect, compared with coal-based activated carbon and nutshell activated carbon. The larger mesh size, the better adsorption decoloring effect we can achieve. The adsorption decoloring effect of activated carbon for dye wastewater decreases linearly with the increase of dye concentration. The adsorption decoloring effect of activated carbon in the acidic condition is better than that in the alkaline environment, and the best adsorption decoloring result is obtained when pH value is 5.5. The higher the temperature, the more color can be removed. However, when the dye wastewater is heated to a certain temperature, the improvement of the adsorption decoloring effect is not significant. Before the adsorption equilibrium, the increase of absorption time has a pronounced effect on the color removal.

Sketching is the initial design tool for garment design. The designer can rapidly express his (or her) design ideas by sketching some strokes of garments on paper. In this paper the traditional sketch-based design method by paper and pencil and the modern computer aided design method are combined. A sketch-based garment pattern design system, dubbed ClothDesign, is developed. Firstly, the contour of the garment pattern is sketched by pen-based interaction mode. Secondly, the sketching contour is segmented and reconstructed automatically. Some key information, such as vertexes data, edges data and pattern structure information of the sketching garment pattern, is obtained. The interpolation points on the contour of the sketching garment pattern and inside the contour are generated by using the interpolation method. Thirdly, the triangular meshes are generated by using the improved Delaunay triangulation algorithm. Finally, the texture is added on the triangular meshes of the garment pattern in order to improve the reality of the garment pattern. Some examples verified the high efficiency of the proposed algorithms. The sketching design garment pattern can be directly used in the next virtual stitching and garment show stages.
